At Elgin, we have career opportunities for both entry level and experienced drivers.
Our training starts the same way for both, with a four day classroom session at our facility in London. By doing this, we can be sure that all of our drivers fully understand our commitment to be a leader in safety. In conjunction with this, we spend significant time reinforcing all of the regulatory issues that drivers are required to be in compliance with to have a long and safe career at Elgin Motor Freight.
The classroom sessions cover the most current customs and border procedures and the use of our satellite communications system. The training also includes the operation of our specific equipment in a safe and fuel efficient manner.
After completing the classroom portion, all drivers will spend a minimum of two weeks with one of our highly qualified Driver Trainers. For entry level drivers this period is extended until they are fully capable of operating safely and reliably on their own. New drivers are assigned to a specific group so that their Driver Manager can be available to help them progress in the industry.
In order to maintain our focus on safety, and to continually update every employee on current
procedures, Elgin holds quarterly driver information seminars which all drivers attend.
These sessions are in small groups, and are scheduled at the start or end of a trip.
