Document Management System

In keeping with its philosophy of implementing technologies that help the company continually improve its services and provide the greatest benefit to customers, Elgin recently implemented a document management system.

All paperwork associated with a particular order or trip is scanned, indexed to the order number, unit, customer and driver and stored in a central database. The process of multiple indexes provides one of the greatest advantages for customers namely, speed of retrieval of documents. From any branch or department, any Elgin employee can retrieve an image of the document and email or fax it to the customer. Customers can also retrieve a bill of lading, proof of delivery or a copy of an invoice when logged onto Elgin's secure Internet Online Tracking system.

For Elgin, the document management system greatly improves internal workflow. Documents are forwarded electronically throughout the company and processed almost immediately.

Elgin views this system as another step in providing their customers with accurate and timely information.
